Way of the Ascetics: The Ancient Tradition of Discipline and Inner Growth by Tito Colliander
I was surprised to find that this Orthodox writer more closely resembled
many of the Puritans I had read than he did the only other Orthodox
book I have read, Our Thoughts Determine Our Lives by Elder
Thaddeus. This is an insightful book, worth reading and digesting, but I
believe advocates a way to God that is, while being necessary for some,
not the best or only way. "If your eye offends you cut it out" may be
what is needed to enter the kingdom for some but is not preferable or
even necessary for all.
